Programme Brief

The programme started with a prayer. Mr.M.P.Antoni Project Director of RAJAGIRI outREACH briefed the project followed by the welcome address given by Dr.Joseph I.Injodey, the Principal of Rajagiri College of Social Sciences, Kalamassery.The meeting was precided by Fr.Antony Kariyil, Director, Rajagiri College. Honourable Minister K.Babu, Minister for Excise and Ports inaugurated the function. In his inaugural speech he emphasized the need for attitudinal change of our society towards the HIV/AIDS Affected. He also appreciated the team members of Be Friends and RAJAGIRI outREACH. Social Commitment of Malayalees in Switzerland to support the people in Kerala was specially mentioned.

Mr.Prince, Secretary of Be Friends handed over the cheque to Fr.Alex CMI, Provincial of Sacred Heart Province and Manager of Rajagiri Educational Institutions. He also gave facilitations in the meeting. Then the cheque was handed over to two representatives of parents of our beneficiaries. Parents/Guardians of 37 children collected their cheque after the function.

Be Friends Care project in charge Mr.Augustin, Executive Members and members attended the function. Representatives of District Networks of People Living with HIV also were present in the function. Mr.Joseph K.Mathew, President, Council of People Living with HIV/AIDS in Kerala (CPK+) also gave felicitations.Ms.Mary Venus, Dean and Administrator gave vote of thanks in the function.

After the function the representatives of Be Friends interacted with district representatives and President of CPK+ in the presence of Project Director of RAJAGIRI outREACH.

Be Friends believes that people need to be aware, motivated, equipped and empowered with knowledge so that they can protect themselves from the impact of HIV. Our hope is that anyone can be saved from the infection with appropriate information on prevention. Be Friends is built on a foundation of care and support, and is committed to consistently fabricate strategic responses for combating HIV/AIDS situation in Kerala.

Be Friends is supporting their initiative and will go for a long term association with  RAJAGIRI out REACH of Rajagiri College of Social Sciences, Kalamassery.

BeFriends, Switzerland HIV Child Sponsorship programme inaugurated

The child sponsorship programme for HIV affected children, a joint venture of BeFriends, Switzerland, RAJAGIRI outREACH of Rajagiri College of Social Sciences, Kalamassery and CPK+ Kerala was inaugurated by Shri. A.M Yousuf MLA at RAJGIRI College of Social Sciences, Kalamassery on 6^th June 2009. 

‘BeFreinds’ is a social and cultural association of the Malayaless in Switzerland. Mr.Tomy Thandamkuzhy (Arts Convenor, BeFriends) said that they decided to sponsor twenty-five HIV affected children in Kerala as part of their variety social activities. This project is implemented in association with RAJAGIRI outREACH and CPK+. 

Mr.Prince Katturukudiyil (Tresearurer, Befriends) handed over their contribution to Shri. A.M Yousuf MLA and it was presented to Dr. Mary Venus Joseph (Vice-Principal RAJAGIRI College). 

Shri. Yousuf mentioned that the contribution of the NRIs is definitely an asset for the social up-liftment of our society. He praised the NRIs that it is noteworthy that they are ready to share for their own society here. It was mentioned by the MLA that the vibrant activities of RAJAGIRI outREACH is really a matter of proud. 

The office bearers of BeFriends shared that they where sure about the implementation of the project through RAJAGIRI outREACH and CPK+. Mr. M.P Antoni (Projcet Director, RAJAGIRI outREACH ) explained that the Sponsorship amount will be utilized for the health care, educational and insurance expenditure of each child.
